Right now. For everyone.
Funding for Civil Society – an Initiative by HateAid
The Challenge
If the budget cuts proposed for the German federal budget 2025 were implemented, the consequences for many civil society organizations would be severe.
Resistance arose: associations and NGOs that strengthen democracy, participation, education and prevention united to emphasize their indispensability.
The Campaign
With the campaign “Right now. For everyone. Your civil society.” we supported HateAid’s initiative to increase political pressure on decision-makers. The strategy: show what civil society organizations contribute every day – and what would be lost if their funding were withdrawn precisely now. The campaign was participatory by design, inviting diverse storytelling and statements. All measures linked to a campaign landing page and to a petition hosted on Campact.
The Result
The campaign quickly became self-propelling: within days, 160 organizations joined, the initiative spread widely on social media and gained strong media traction.
By the summer recess, 84,000 people had signed the petition to Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
The campaign reached political Berlin – and (as of July 2024) influenced the budget negotiations positively.
